From August 27 to 28, Local Development Sweden met in Stockholm to discuss the ongoing work in preparation for the upcoming EU program period 2028-2034.
SVESAM – The Inquiry for Sweden's Cohesive Development
On Wednesday, we met with Jonas Widell, inquiry secretary/lawyer for SVESAM.
SVESAM investigates, among other things, how experiences from leader work in both Sweden and other countries can be utilized in a renewed territorial policy. The inquiry believes that methods and working practices used within the framework of the leader method are interesting, especially for opportunities for enhanced collaboration, and will look further into how these could be utilized on a larger scale. Local Development Sweden will submit a contribution on the partial report released last summer.
Local Development Sweden is part of the reference group for the New Rural Policy. This association is also the reference group for the Svesa inquiry.
Common Agricultural Policy after 2027
We also had a meeting with Malin Emmoth at the government office (Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure). We discussed the role of Leaders in the upcoming common agricultural policy for 2028-2034. Local Development Sweden is invited to the next advisory council on this and will draft a letter with comments ahead of the negotiations in the EU Commission that begin this week.
The work on the common agricultural policy is expected to be completed in about 1.5 years.
The Swedish Board of Agriculture, the future of CAP and Leader
On the second day, we had a meeting with Frans Elf, Anna Brattberg, and Sanja Ivancevic at the Swedish Board of Agriculture regarding the upcoming program period. Local Development Sweden will be invited to dialogue with responsible working groups/committees during this process.
The conference concluded with establishing ”who, what, and how” we will conduct advocacy work moving forward for the next program period. This also includes creating a basis for joint advocacy work that can be used in our 40 Leader areas.
